slice of life_class

This is the story about how my parents met.
So parents knew the same person and one day the same person thought it would be good if my mum and dad met. She decided they should meet in a restaurant/pub. When the day had come, my parents chatted and walked around together, and a few days latter my dad called my mum and asked if she would  like to go on a date and that's is how it all began!

Slice of Life Week 9

slice of life_individual

One evening at Mangawhai Heads on the big dunes I was on my boogie board  ready start walking up the hill. I was only seven. I had never done it in my life. When I got to the top I tested it to check it was safe. It seemed ok. So I got myself lined up on my board, slid down a tiny bit then plowed face first into the sand.

I looked like a sand monster. I was covered in sand from head to toe. Literally!

---ART---

Wallisy Kandinsky was a russian painter from the 1800's.
We are using his art as an inspiration for our pastel pieces. Today we made circles and the focus was making good colour choices and blending techniques.

Jess and Em's beautiful blending

The Maths Makers are working this week on subtraction strategies.

slice of life_individual
One day when I was 2 years old we got our first trampoline (because I believed I could fly) I went on it to see how high I could fly. So I went to check also if it was safe or not. It seemed pretty stable to me so I did a couple of jumps and I felt like I could fly so I went in the house. I found my fairy wings, I went back to my tramp and I went so high, I flapped them. I embarrassed myself in front of my toys, because I could not fly. The End

About 4 years ago Mum was picking me and Sophie up from school and she said "I have a surprise for you at home". Me and Sophie immediately got excited, I asked "Is it food? Is it clothes? Is it presents?!" Mum said "Nope, none of them". Sophie was obviously thinking about this very carefully, then all of a sudden Sophie says "Is it a cat?" then I say, "of course not, we already have a cat". Mum didn't say anything.

When we got home Mum tells us to keep our eyes closed. Me and Sophie didn't listen and opened them. Mum goes behind the curtain and picks up the prettiest, fluffiest cat I've ever seen! Me and Sophie rush over in excitement. We all sat on the couch thinking of a name, then Sophie says "How about Snow White? Snowy for short?". I say "That's a good name, let's call her that!" mum said "Okay, now we need to find a way to get her out from behind the curtain..."

We spent the rest of the day trying to pick up the cat without her attacking us👏

My story is at the supermarket.

My Dad took me to the supermarket one day. I am hopeless in supermarkets. But on this day I was super naughty! Dad was walking down this aisle and I was walking down the other. There were a lot of people coming down the same aisle that I was in. I started to run, I was only about 3 so I wasn't fast. I suddenly stopped... there, in front of me, was a big tower of chocolate boxes. I started to walk again but as the people got closer I started to run. I bumped into the chocolate boxes and they all came tumbling down!

I ran to find my Daddy and he put me into his trolley. As I said before, I was cheeky so I sat there as Dad put all the food into the trolley. As we went down the 'sweets' aisle to get the cookies, I started grabbing stuff off the shelves and putting them into our trolley. Dad soon put a stop to that!

Slice of Life Week 8

Getting Sam

I love Sammy. 9 years ago me, mum, dad and Louie went to a dog place to get a dog. We walked in and saw Sammy, he was brown and little and he was so happy! I said "I want that one!" and pointed at Sammy. We got him a collar, some food and a lead and took him home. When I got home I played with and cuddled Sammy. Mum chose his name and he slept on his doggy bed.

Week 8.....

Maths mayhem with the Maths Makers group. We are working on solving two digit addition problems...a strategy the Maths Makers liked was adding the tens and then the ones. We also tried solving equations in our heads. Tricky! But the clever Maths Makers were getting it👍 Yay for Kyra, Oscar, Finn, Ryan and Gemma. And of course Mrs J👀

This week we watched The Sneetches by Dr Suess, this story is about not changing who you are to impress others.
We attempted to draw our own star belly sneetches.
We will upload some pictures of our sneetches later on today when they are finished!

Also earlier today we used different ideas from The Game Of Awesome to write narrative stories.

We also went to the library and got some awesome chapter books to start reading next week for our chapter book inquiry.

Our last swimming lesson was last Tuesday, we had heaps of fun and we all learnt something new! We will definitely be safer around water now!

Building McDonalds

When I was five years old I built McDonalds. I hit myself with a hammer time after time and I screamed because I saw a white tail. Even though I had hit my finger with a hammer I was more scared of the spider. Scary little thing, I tell you.

After a month I had finished McDonalds, a piece of wood, perfection. Everyone loved it. My family bought Big Dirt and my brother bought some McStones. It was the best McDonalds in the world. Of course I got everything for free so I got a Big Dirt.

Fiji

It was a warm evening in Fiji, the sun was setting and the calm waves were darkening the sand every time they washed in. My sister, Alyssa, and I, were ankle deep in water, discussing how unfortunate it was that we were leaving soon. Mum and Dad were sitting in the golden sand watching the pink sunset.

Alyssa slowly goes further into the water and I back out and sit on the soft sand waiting for her to follow. Instead she goes deeper, considering she was in clothes I was expecting her to come out. But she goes even deeper, holding up her shorts now.
"Jump in!"Dad yelled as a joke. She turns around and falls into the water, making a splash. She slowly emerges and we are all almost crying from laughter.
